MONOCULTURE | A Recent History

In De Bom (The Bomb), Jos De Gruyter and Harald Thys track a man creating a bomb in his garden, where it eventually explodes. The camera carefully follows the man, tracing his every move as if it were a news report. Here, De Gruyter and Thys make references to documentary conventions and styles, but this is not reality: the production remains carefully staged.
