Jimmie Durham
Confessional Hair and Dirt on Canvas Piece, 2006
Sculpture
, 185 x 90 x 15 cm
Hair, dirt, canvas, wood
An odd piece of black-painted canvas (with hair and dirt, so we’re told) hangs on the wall of the exhibition space. It comments on his own bizarre existence, while assuming his status as a work of art since made by an artist: “MR. DURHAM MADE ME WITHOUT STOPPING TO THINK OF HIS ART CAREER NOR, I AM SORRY TO SAY, THE SENSITIVITIES OF THE GENERAL ART PUBLIC”.
